“Our house is spectacular, it’s the best place in the world. Oh my! This sounds terribly vulgar but it’s exactly how it’s written.
We moved into our house in 2021. “Ours not so much in the sense of owners but also because of the personal choices we made during the execution of the project, imagining that we would live there for the rest of our lives. We had a long adaptation phase, which is still ongoing, although more diluted. We had to adapt to larger, more organized spaces, greater comforts, without forgetting the greater maintenance. We did a “thing” that was quite big… looking around we see a beautiful, sophisticated, comfortable building with incredible sun exposure and yes, it is as big as we wanted.
We have space for storage, to move around freely, to watch the sunset, to exercise, relax in the spa, store bicycles, eat meals outside, play football… and also for parties – getting together with family and friends to dance, sing karaoke, have a few drinks – celebrate joys and sorrows in a very pleasant place.
Without a doubt, for us, the greatest housing project is the one where we feel we are in the best place in the world – it is the place where we want to go every day after work, to be with those we love, sit on the sofa, watch a film and eat popcorn, and then, when we go to bed, have the wonderful feeling of sleeping peacefully – it is a refuge and a shelter.

“She liked apartments, he wanted to live in a house, especially now with 2 children who would use the outdoor space.
The decision wasn’t easy, but the real estate market helped to make it and, right from the first contact with architect Maria Fradinho, any remaining doubts were dispelled. The empathy was huge and, they believe, mutual.
All the main ideas that they transmitted to FRARI were respected in the basic project and they soon realized that the studio would only be satisfied if their dream was achieved and not just if the house was worthy of a magazine cover (which it is!).
The entire process was – from the beggining and even after completion – super smooth, they always felt very supported and FRARI’s work went far beyond what they had imagined.
Today, the four of them feel very, very happy in their home, especially because they identify with everything that was designed.
Proof of this is the fact that all of their friends and family who visit their home say that “it looks just like you, you can tell it was made with you and your dynamics in mind”. Which is true!
And for that, we will be eternally grateful and recommend FRARI without hesitation.”

“The initial reason for the intervention in our home was the urgent need to remedy various pathologies resulting from capillary infiltration, not wanting to move forward with palliative measures but rather to find an effective solution to the problems identified but also to prevent possible new problems.
In this sense, we sought out the FRARI architecture firm, where we immediately realized the potential of the house in order to solve the infiltration problems but also to meet the practicality of a house lived in by a family, now necessarily in a different phase of life, 13 years later. In this context, some spaces were rethought, providing more comfort and privacy to all members of the family, starting by eliminating one bedroom, allowing the remaining three to become suites.
The second intervention was to maximize the use of the dinning room, which had always been in the background. Thus, the kitchen was now used solely for preparing meals, with family gatherings centered exclusively in the living room.
Finally, the major change was made to the exterior. The space previously used to support the existing swimming pool was only served by a simple barbecue, but this was greatly expanded and improved, resulting in an elegant lounge for socializing. It has always been our prerogative that houses are meant to be truly lived in by all the people who inhabit them and not mere architectural works.
In this sense, a project that was somewhat bold for the time of construction, with the intervention of the FRARI architecture office, finally now House J meets current needs, with the final result being to everyone’s liking, especially the children, now teenagers!”

“Our project was born from a desire to invest in Portugal, more precisely in Ílhavo, in the historic area in an old house with traces of the municipality’s rich past. Settled in France, we decided some time ago to return to Portugal.
The investment we wanted to make in the desired house was, in a way, to participate in the rehabilitation of the national heritage by choosing a house from the 1940s built in adobe brick, one of the oldest materials used in the world. The need to use FRARI made sense because the rehabilitation deserved all the care associated with that specificity. Adapting an old model house in the construction to make it unique but above all connected to the future.
The project was comprehensive, completely undertaken by the architect Maria João Fradinho and her collaborators. We appreciated their commitment, enthusiasm, dedication, but also the respectful coexistence given to the employees and engineers involved in the work. The main aims of the renovation were: to preserve the old style of everything that had value (wooden staircase, interior shutters, moulded ceilings, etc.). FRARI implemented a new redistribution of spaces, careful attention to detail, but above all, they knew how to create a modernity that was assumed in a practical, comfortable and elegant use of all areas.
The project was complicated: the Covid period, the search for a specialized company, our inability to come during the pandemic… Maria João’s continued presence made things easier and reassured us during this long uncertain period.
We haven’t moved into the house yet, but we’re in a hurry to do so…

As our family grew, it became clear that we needed a space that would accompany this new stage… A home that could reflect our identity and lifestyle.
