This single-family house is implanted at a land confronted with one of the longest arteries in the city, that gives its name to the project: the national road EN109.
Once it is a residential use the architectural piece protects itself from this road, and is materialized in a uniform body, which through its shape and arrangement, is protected from the busy road.
The villa has the main facade perpendicular to the road layout, incongruously to the pre-existing reality. Thus, the front facade becomes blind and is created a green space of transition and protection between it and the road, which will allow greater privacy to the house area, properly protected from the road.
The house follows the continuity of existing buildings, with the front facade aligned with the neighbor house, ensuring also the relation with the heights of the already established buildings. While this front move back in relation to the promenade limit, a green space is created, as a protection for the ambient and noise pollution, caused by the artery, that will dignify and ensure the necessary characteristics for the intended use.

The moment of entry trough the north side is discreet, but is celebrated by the great contemplation to the south side once inside. This is guaranteed by the east-to-west windows that embraces the southern facade of the building, which is oriented perpendicularly to the road. Thus, the architectural piece, admittedly horizontal, ensures a wide private yard, able to join the requirements that are imposed of a green area for leisure. All compartments are turning to this important garden, ignoring all other possible spaces, never as favorable in relation to the natural light that provides.
he interior space is read as an open space that opens to the outside through the large glassed wall that extend to the contiguous front porch. This space explicitly open and uniform, takes the views to the green exterior, already protected from EN 109. It is then ensured the feeling of one interior space with regular ceilings, where the spaces are always articulated in parallel to the porch.
The building, with curved shape, ensures adequate protection from the wind at the porch, while certifying a greater depth of the private yard on the axle of the house.
All rooms look out over the garden through the porch on the ground floor, or through a joint balcony on the top floor, elements that provide a uniform façade and allows the volume extends beyond their limits, always homogeneously. The round shape allows, on the other hand, the views to be always a little bit different from one space to another, creating some rhythm of experiences.
his facade, that is as horizontal as the floor plant, will let the upper body of the house rise and stand out, through the retreat of the ground limits, composed by concrete walls that, together with big windows, are distinguished from the unavoidable white body of the upper part of the building.
The simple and solid piece, intends to position itself as a critical response to interventions in lands neighboring to national roads, providing the use of free outer space, that this type of lands supposedly don’t allow. The living room is, in both sides, limited by glass walls, that provides total sunlight from the south side and, at the same time, direct access and views for the backyard, with the swimming pool, barbecue area, children’s playground, deck area and the gardens.
At the first floor it was added a new master bedroom, with an open toilet that connects with the bedroom, and with the patio, in a romantic atmosphere.
The terrace is a private space that guarantees relaxed moments, after living in this house of busy lives.
